We made a last minute decision to drive down to Garmish on Saturday so we could get in a day of skiing on Sunday. The drive is about 3 hours and we wanted to make sure we could get out on the slopes early. Garmish is in Southern Germany and is really popular with military families because there is a base there with a nice lodge and great restaurants.
We really lucked out and when we got down there Saturday night, it started snowing and continued all night and into Sunday so we had perfect fresh powder. We had tried to go skiing there earlier in the season but because its been such a snowless winter they only had a few runs open back in December. The trails were great, we were on the slopes by 9 and were able to get in 5 good hours of skiing before we had to head home. My skills are definintely getting better, I went down a few intermediate runs on purpose this time and didn’t have any huge falls!
